The external aluminium cladding is powder-coated, UV-stable, and requires no painting or staining. Unlike timber or uPVC, it will not fade, crack, or warp over its service life.
Inside, the frame is natural timber — giving a feeling of warmth that aluminium-only frames cannot match. Internal and external finishes can be specified in different RAL colours (bi-colour configuration).

Aluminium-clad (alu-clad) windows have a structural timber frame on the inside with a factory-fitted aluminium skin on the external face. The timber provides structural integrity, natural insulation, and a warm interior aesthetic. The aluminium handles everything the weather throws at it — without ever needing to be painted.
Nordvest alu-clad windows should not be compared with aluminium-frame windows. The core is solid timber; the aluminium is a protective cladding, not the structural element.
Alu-clad windows are compatible with double and triple glazing. With triple glazing and warm-edge spacer bars, U-values as low as 0.6 W/m²K are achievable — suitable for Passivhaus and EnerPHit certification. The aluminium cladding itself has no negative effect on the thermal performance of the frame.

uPVC windows have a typical lifespan of 20–35 years. Aluminium-clad timber windows last 60 years, achieve higher energy ratings, and are the better environmental choice — timber is a renewable material and the product is repairable and recyclable at end of life in a way that uPVC is not.

Aluminium cladding is available across the full Nordvest window range: tilt and turn, top swing fully reversible, side hung casement, and fixed frame. All window types can be specified in alu-clad without any change to the opening mechanism or performance specification.
